Yacht Valuation

A documented opinion of value, based on the vessel's condition and specification alongside market evidence for comparable yachts.

When a valuation is useful

  • Finance or marine mortgage applications
  • Insurance sums insured
  • Purchase or sale price discussions
  • Estate, tax or legal matters
  • Partnership or ownership changes

What a valuation considers

A valuation is an opinion, not a guarantee of achievable price. A surveyor typically considers age, model, specification, equipment, refit history, condition observed during inspection and evidence from comparable sales or listings.

Valuations reflect a specific date and market. Values change; ask how recent the comparable evidence is.

Common questions

Does a valuation include a condition inspection?

It usually involves at least an on-board inspection, because condition materially affects value. The depth of the inspection depends on the agreed scope.
